Description

Bavaria. Ludwig I "Feldherrnhalle" 2 Taler 1844 MS65 NGC, Munich mint, KM818, Dav-591, AKS-106, Thun-83. Struck in celebration of the completion of the Feldernnhalle in Munich. While we've seen a significant number of Gem Mint State examples from Ludwig's commemorative series, rarely are they accompanied with such visual character. Seemingly Prooflike appearances give way to a pervasive, deep iridescence that becomes immediately recognizable at the most subtle flick of the wrist. A piece most certainly worthy of this advanced designation and tied with one other for the "Top Pop" spot. Ex. Peak Collection (UBS Gold & Numismatics Auction 74, January 2008, Lot 90) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
