Kirin. Kuang-hsü "Flower Basket" 50 Cents ND (1898) XF45 PCGS, KM-Y182.1, L&M-517. Imbued with the so-called "Flower Vase" motif that appears emblematic of the first few years of Kirin's coinage, containing, more accurately, "immortality greens," meant to serve as a visual metaphor for the dynastic motto of the time, "Long live the Qing Dynasty." Only a gentle dispersal of mild handling limits the assigned grade, elevated by instances of underlying mint flash and surprisingly crisp features.
