Description

Rama IV gold 4 Baht (Pit) ND (1863) MS64 NGC, Bangkok mint, KM-Y14, LeMay-pg. 94, Plate XXI, 2, Krisadaolarn/Mihailovs-pg. 163, Plate F31. Struck to a foreign weight standard. A handsome and highly rare Thai gold issue, purported by LeMay to have never been released for circulation. Nonetheless, collectors of the series will know full well just how difficult it is to find an example in such pristine condition, with so many having been used in jewelry and thus coming cleaned, tooled, or mounted. For the sake of comparison, we would note that the Norman Jacobs representative ranked a point lower, while NGC has seen just a single MS66 finer.
