Description

Republic Sun Yat-sen "Birds Over Junk" Dollar Year 21 (1932) MS62 PCGS, KM-Y344, L&M-108, Kann-622, Chang-CH204, WS-0144. A near-choice representative from a series that needs no introduction, with both obverse and reverse designs an instant identifier to all collectors of Chinese numismatics, here with the birds over junk and rising sun motifs. These design elements would ultimately be stricken from the design as contemporary interpretation thought it to show pro-Japanese sentiment. Originality abounds this Mint State offering, likely having been plucked from circulation soon after striking and tucked away, having developed a pleasing honeyed silty patina unleashed at the flick of the wrist and be appreciated when viewed in hand.
