Republic Sun Yat-sen Military "Memento" Dollar ND (1927) Fine Details (Environmental Damage) PCGS, cf. KM-Y318a (for standard issue), L&M-Unl., Kann-Unl., WS-0165-7 (different dies). Military or warlord issue. Six-pointed stars variety, with retrograde N in MEMENTO. An intriguing military type, clearly hastily produced as indicated by careless script in both the English and Chinese. Interestingly, while we have offered two specimens of the reversed N variety previously (Auction #3055, lot 38102 and Auction #3047, lot 30072), both were struck from very distinctive dies from the present piece, much more in line with the example plated by Wang Chun Li.
