Dutch Colony Counterstamped 3 Reaal (18 Stuivers) ND (1818) AU58 NGC, KM28.1. 5.33gm. Host: Cut colonial Peruvian 8 Reales. Counterstamp: "3" (AU Strong). Issued by the Dutch Authority shortly after English occupation of Curacao. Spanish-American 8 reales were segmented into five pie-shaped pieces and countermarked with the numeral 3 in a dentilated circle to pass as 3 reales. Serrated edges are normal for these cut pieces. Boldly struck counterstamp on a cabinet toned host.
