Louis XV gold Louis d'Or 1729/8-T AU Details (Saltwater Damage) NGC, Nantes mint, cf. KM489.20 (overdate unlisted), Gad-340 (R2; same). Louis d'Or aux lunettes. The first example of this overdate we have encountered, with our research bringing one other to light in recent auction records (Jean Elsen Auction 90, December 2006, Lot 1183). Seemingly quite well-struck in spite of the later saltwater damage, and much less heavily adjusted than is often seen.
