Louis XV Ecu 1720 AU53 NGC, Uncertain mint, possibly La Rochelle or Montpellier, Dav-1328, Gad-319, Dup-1665. Ecu de France. Flan Reforme, trefoil below bust. A curious issue overstruck on an earlier Paris-minted Ecu de France-Navarre. Unfortunately, the host details have obscured the mintmark in such a way that prevents certain attribution. Despite this, examples of this type are quite rare and usually found in lesser states of preservation than encountered here. Ex. John J.
