Monaco. temp. Louis I Grimaldi Luigino (1/12 Ecu or 5 Sols) 1667-A MS61 NGC, Paris mint, KM-Unl., Gad-MC74, Cammarano-275b. Imitating the Luigini of Anne-Marie Louis d'Orleans of Dombes. A generally scarce minor, particularly in this mint fresh grade. Introduced in Dombes, the Luigino became imitated around the Mediterranean and, particularly, in Italy, where it was seen as a means to exploit trade with the Ottoman Empire.
