Julian II, as Augustus (AD 360-363). AR siliqua (17mm, 2.61 gm, 11h). Fine. Arles, 3rd officina, AD 360-361. D N CL IVLIA-NVS AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed beardless bust of Julian II right, seen from front / VOTIS / V / MVLTIS / X, legend in four lines within wreath terminating in large jewel; TCON below. RIC VIII 295. This was the first silver coin struck during Julian's successful revolt against Constantius II; die engravers at the Arles mint were not yet acquainted with his "philosopher's beard."
