An iconic type that is only very seldom found technically finer, the Proof Gothic Crowns of Victoria commonly rank among the most treasured British coins, with the paucity of Gem Mint State specimens meaning that high-grade examples demand large premiums whenever they become available. This particular selection, which lacks any significant signs of contact, very much presses the upper bounds of its assigned grade, its surfaces decorated in plum and cobalt patina that emerges from behind a hard mirrored flash when viewed at an angle.
