Description

Yunnan. Hsüan-t'ung Dollar ND (1909-1911) AU58 PCGS, Kunming mint, KM-Y260, L&M-425, Kann-175, Chang-CH150. Among the finest certified examples of the type we have had the privilege to offer, and additionally one of the nicest we have been able to locate coming to auction in recent years. More often found in lower technical states--PCGS has seen just 44 Mint State representatives out of the 748 they have graded--this specimen edges very nearly on a higher designation, satin luster pervading the surfaces throughout and cartwheeling clearly over both sides. Mildly toned to a soft gold along the outer registers, given that we recently sold a nicely toned AU50 for $28,800 in our June Hong Kong sale, we can only guess at the heights that this coin will reach.
