A vibrant consecutive set, these notes are enhanced by an image of the Great Hall. The red-inked 1 Yuan of 1953, issued in 1955, was replaced by a steel grey, black, and orange note dated 1956, and issued in 1961, rendering this first type the scarcer of the two. Outstanding original qualities are easily seen on this beautiful, enormously popular type.
