Central American Republic Counterstamped 8 Reales ND (1839) VF Details (Holed) NGC, KM95, Stickney-C108. Displaying Type II sun and mountains counterstamp (VF Strong) on the obverse of a Charles II 8 Reales 1685 P-VR from Bolivia (cf. KM19, Cal-726). A broadly realized host for this countermark, revealing clear dates on the obverse and reverse alike, together with an easy-to-see mintmark and assayer's initials. The stamp itself is also quite well-executed, the sun and mountains still fully discernable while one may even make out the features of the sunface with only little difficulty. Ex. Ponterio & Associates Auction 74 (March 1995, Lot 1346)
