Central American Republic gold 1/2 Escudo 1848 CR-JB AU58 NGC, San Jose mint, KM13.2, Stickney-C99. Variety with the C in CR "inverted" or retrograde. A somewhat scarcer subvariety of this final date for the type from the San Jose mint, with the present offering being only the second such example we have presented. Admittedly light rub bounds the designation, though notably few stray marks appear over the surfaces.
