Pedro I 640 Reis 1827-R MS61 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM367, LMB-503, Bentes-475.14. 28 tulip variety. A notably more challenging date in the series, tied for the finest that we have encountered with the Vila Rica specimen (Heritage Auction #3091, May 2021, Lot 30132), and also tied with that example for the finest certified to date by NGC. Attractively patinated in a natural silty tone, with an undercurrent of sunset red expressed throughout the surfaces at a slight tilt of the wrist. Easily more appealing in hand than the assigned grade would suggest, as any light friction seems nearly fully absorbed by the patina.
