Description

British India. William IV gold Mohur 1835.-(c) MS61 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM451.2, Prid-9, S&W-1.9. Type A obverse with R.S. on truncation. Reeded edge. Mintage: 9,133. A praiseworthy one-year type in this certification, with a quick review of NGC's census revealing MS63 to be the highest grade yet awarded by that company for the issue, and most survivors ranking far below AU condition. Struck with an exactitude visible throughout the raised features, the fields show a brilliant lustrous sheen that continues to cartwheel freely around the planchet. The reverse in particular very nearly contains the appearance of a finer coin, the designation bound by just some stray evidence of contact on the obverse.
