Republic "Discovery Anniversary" 4000 Reis 1900 MS65 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM502.2, Elizondo-90, LMB-P680a. Variety with 20 rays around star. An extremely popular commemorative struck for the 400th anniversary of the discovery of Brazil by Pedro Alvares Cabral and one which seldom comes observed in quality such as this. An issue that is commonly recognized to come cleaned or at least mildly circulated, this specimen presents no such flaws, its champagne luster rolling effortlessly over surfaces tinged with hints of magenta and peach color. By far the nicest we have handled, and an example that is currently unsurpassed in the certified population. Ex. R.L.
