João VI 960 Reis 1820-R AU55 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM326.1, LMB-478. Struck over a Chilean "Volcano" Peso 1815 (cf. KM82.2). An always sought-after host for this 960 Reis type, and only the third example of this date-mint combination with this overstrike we have presented. Although much of the undercoin has been obliterated, much of the underlying legends remain visible, including the date.
