Meiji Counterstamped Yen Year 29 (1896) MS63 NGC, KM-Y28a.5. Gin counterstamp to left. Of appreciable quality, especially for a countermarked issue, and rarely encountered in Choice Mint State, displaying golden peach toning pervading the choice surfaces. Only five finer have been submitted to NGC, making for a rare opportunity to own such a fine countermarked issue.
