Description

Burma Government of India, Rangoon 100 Rupees ND (1927-37) Pick A8d Jhunjhunwalla-Razack 3.10.2M PMG Extremely Fine 40. Government of India notes provide a collector with a specialized challenge, as there are many subtle variations within each denomination of each series. The pastel purple and green 100 Rupees of the late 1920s through 1930s features three signature varieties and a plethora of cities of issue. Among the rarest is Rangoon, in Burma, as issuance was much smaller compared to the larger cities in India. This variety features the signature of J.B. Taylor and does not have red overprints (which were applied after 1937 on some Kelly signed notes). Only brief circulation is present on this handsome note, along with typical internal splits or holes. A type that is seldom offered, this is an exciting opportunity to acquire an important King George V portrait note.
