Description

James VI Counterstamped "Thistle" Ryal ND (1578) VF30 PCGS, cf. S-5425 (for host, discussed on pg. 76). Countermarked with crowned thistle revaluation. An appealing representative of this stamp, clearly struck upon a Ryal of Mary and Henry Darnley. The host, dated 1565, is nicely struck and without problems, exhibiting only honest circulation wear.
