Uncertain eastern mint, possibly Jerusalem, Alexandria on Cyprus, 1st officina, AD 613-618. d d N N hЄRACLIЧS ЄT hЄRA CONST P P AVG, facing busts of Heraclius, bearded (on left) and Heraclius Constantine, smaller and beardless (on right), both wearing chlamys and elaborate crown; cross above, exergual line below / VICTORIA-AVϚЧ A, cross potent on four steps; CONOB below. Sear 851 (Jerusalem) (unlisted officina). DOC 2.1, 187 (Alexandria). MIB 77 (Cyprus). Deeply struck on a broad flan with crisp incredibly detailed portraits and crowns. The attribution of this scarce solidus type to Jerusalem is no longer widely accepted. It was likely produced by an eastern military mint.
