THRACE. Odessus. Ca. late 3rd century BC. AV stater (21mm, 8.41 gm, 11h). NGC Choice AU 4/5 - 3/5. Posthumous issue in the name and types of Lysimachus, ca. 225-200 BC. Diademed head of deified Alexander III right, with horn of Ammon / BAΣIΛEΩΣ / ΛYΣIMAXOY, Athena seated left, Nike crowning royal name in right hand, resting left arm on grounded shield decorated with gorgoneion head boss, transverse spear beyond; ΟΔ H monogram below right arm, K•HP (HP as a monogram) in exergue. AMNG I 2119 type (KOI in exergue). Müller 237 type (same). Sharply struck from dies of pleasing style, with significant residual luster. A nice and rare example from this small transitional series.
