João V gold 800 Reis 1727-B Clipped NGC, Bahia mint, KM123, LMB-74. 1.49gm. First shield variety. The exceedingly rare first-year-of-issue for this small gold type, and an incredibly difficult earlier variety to wit. To date, this is only the third example of this "first shield" issue we have offered--an XF Details (Cleaned) specimen realized $5040 in our April Auction 3083. We believe that this piece is around VF condition.
