Pedro II 400 Reis 1840 AU55 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM453, LMB-539, Bentes-579.04. Uniform charcoal-gray surfaces that display scant wear to the tulip wreath make it nonetheless evident this specimen saw hardly any use in circulation. It is estimated that only a couple hundred of this date were struck, with only 15-20 surviving. This is the lesser of the two in NGC's census, with the finest as a lofty MS64. Regardless, a rare opportunity to own such an elusive piece.
