Description

João VI "Inclined Reverse" 960 Reis 1820-R MS61 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM326.1, LMB-478c, Bentes-443.17. Variety with "SATB" error in reverse legend and inclined reverse. Overstruck on a Chile Volcano Peso 1819 SANTIAGO-FD (cf. KM82.2). A scarce and sought-after host coin demonstrating a clear "SANTIAGO" to the reverse legend, partially obscured by the "SATB" error. Beautiful and uniform argent patination subdues what would otherwise be lustrous surfaces. Coin is clearly struck with a 45-degree inclination of the reverse. Rare.
