Spain Banco de Espana 1000 Pesetas 10.5.1907 Pick 61a PMG Very Fine 30 Net. Without question, this design is the pinnacle of work by the Bank of Spain, and one of the most beautiful designs issued anywhere in the world. The face is printed in a stunning black and blue-green hue, featuring Mercury holding a globe at left. The Art Nouveau style was less than two decades old, but taking over Europe. This note is all the more important in Spanish history due to its rarity. Just 500,000 notes were printed, a tiny sum compared to other 1000 Pesetas issues. Rare in any grade. A repair is noted by the third party grading company.
