Lower Canada "Wellington/Cossack" Penny Token ND (1813) MS61 Brown NGC, Br-985, WE-13B, Courteau-Unl., Withers-1506 (RRR), WEL-71 (R10). Engrailed edge. Medal alignment. Variety with grass behind the horse's rear hoof. A hint of rubbing on the high points, with underlying luster. There are 5 noticeable scratches in the reverse field below the horse and rider. An extremely rare variety, only first published in the 10th edition of Charlton, which only contains a reference price for the type in XF40. Altogether missing from both the Robins and McKay-Clements collections. Sold with old collector envelope detailing provenance.
