Description

Carol II gold "Jubilee" 100 Lei 1940 MS61 NGC, Bucharest mint, KM-XM12, Fr-19, Stamb-111. Uncircled bust variety. Coin alignment. Reeded edge. A prized rarity within the field of 20th-century Romanian numismatics, struck in commemoration of the 10th year of Carol II's reign. This grand homage to the monarchy features an elegantly stark obverse design that serves to highlight the bare portrait of the King, paired with an appealingly symmetrical reverse incorporating the royal cipher. With moderate, but not overly distracting handling that aligns with the assigned grade, and a generous coating of watery luster over the reverse fields. Ex. Numismatica Genevensis Auction 2 (November 2002, Lot 941)
