(annulet) ЄD | WARD: DЄI: GRA: RЄX: AnGL: DnS: hyB' x Z (retrograde) x AQ | T' (double saltire stops), Edward crowned, standing facing in ship, sword in right hand, shield in left / + IhC: AVTЄm: TRAnSIЄnS: PЄR: mЄDIV: ILLORVm: IBAT (double saltire stops), large floriate cross with Є at center, crowned lions in angles, all within polylobe with trefoils in spandrels. A contested type in all grades, preserving a wealth of detail in spite of the noted damage, which may appear to have been caused by a shovel, suggesting a detectorist find. A more attainable representative of this noble, struck on a full flan and still permitting a full reading of the legends.
