Description

Edward III (1327-1377) gold 1/4 Noble ND (1361-1369) MS64 NGC, Tower mint, Treaty Period, S-1510, N-1224. 1.31gm. +ЄDWΛRD: DЄI: GRΛ: RЄX: ΛnGL (double saltire stops), royal shield within polylobe / +ЄXΛLTΛBITVR: IN: GLORIΛ D:, cross fleuree with lis at center, lions over trefoils in angles; all within polylobe. The second finest example of this subtype certified across either of the major grading services, featuring a resoundingly strong strike and light tangerine color over the surfaces. Lightly clipped at the edges, though the overall lack of circulation suggests that this may have been done at the mint.
