Julius Caesar, as Dictator (49-44 BC). AR denarius (18mm, 3.77 gm, 6h). NGC MS S 5/5 - 4/5. Military mint traveling with Caesar in Greece, Apollonia, July 48 BC. Female head (Venus?) right, wearing pendant earring, necklace, stephane and oak wreath, hair bound in jeweled chignon at back of head; LII (Caesar's age=52) behind / CAE-SAR, trophy of Gallic arms and armor, with horned helmet, chainmail shirt, shield, and carnyx; securis left to right. Crawford 452/2. Sydenham 1009. Julia 26. Magnificently struck from fresh dies on bright flan with reddish toning. The LII=52 on obverse apparently indicates Caesar's age, thus struck after Caesar's fifty-second birthday on 13 July 48 BC.
