Lucius Caesius (ca. 112/1 BC). AR denarius (21mm, 3.94 gm, 1h). NGC Choice AU S 5/5 - 5/5, Fine Style. Rome. Bust of Vejovis left, viewed from behind, hurling thunderbolt with right hand; ROMA monogram behind / Two Lares seated right, both with grounded spear in left hand, dog standing between being pet on head by Lares on right; head of Vulcan left and tongs above, LA (ligate) on left, ER (ligate) on right, L•CAESI (AE ligate) in exergue. Crawford 298/1. Sydenham 564. Caesia 1. Perfectly struck from high relief dies of fine style on large flan with scattered rainbow toning. Breathtaking coin in hand.
