Description

Penang. British Administration copper Proof Pattern Cent (Pice) 1810 PR64 Brown NGC, Soho mint, KM-Pn2, Prid-25, Scholten-977A. Leaves on wreath oriented clockwise. By Thomas Wyon. A considerably scarce pattern that appears with great infrequence on the market. Patinated to an antique chestnut red-brown, the design of this pattern can be readily distinguished from the circulation issues by the more modest wreath design, whereas the circulation type features bulbs overlaid on a wreath with thinner leaves. This piece also exhibits finer beaded borders that extend to the edge of the coin. Currently only the second example we have offered, with the last, a PR63 Brown, bringing $9600 in our June 2019 HKINF sale.
