Description

George I gold 2 Guineas 1717 AU55 NGC, KM554, S-3627, Schneider-Unl. When one encounters circulated gold coins of this period one typically expects somewhat heavier instances of handling, owing to the softness of gold and its susceptibility to marks and minor dents. However, no such features are evident across the surfaces of this impressive 2 guineas. Rather, the viewer is met almost entirely by bright mint luster, expressed to a superb degree, the strike bold, well-centered, and meriting the highest level of appreciation. The offering represents the first of this type-date that we have seen, and for a coin that has undergone any level of circulation at all it would be difficult to imagine one with finer appeal.
