SICILY. Syracuse. Ca. 485-480 BC. AR tetradrachm (25mm, 17.34 gm, 7h). NGC Choice AU S 5/5 - 5/5, Fine Style. Ca. 484-483 BC. Charioteer driving walking quadriga right, kentron in right hand, reins in both; Nike flying right above crowning horses, all on double exergual line / ΣVRAϘOΣION, diademed head of Arethusa right, wearing necklace, hair brushed in straight lines; surrounded by four dolphins swimming clockwise. Boehringer 39 (V26/R23). De Nanteuil 319 (same dies). SNG ANS 7 (same obverse die). Perfectly struck from dies of lovely style. From the Penn Collection. Ex Triton II (1 December 1998), lot 219
