Description

Prince Edward Island Treasury 1 Pound 29.5.1865 PEI-15a Pick S153 Cancelled PMG Very Good 8. Prince Edward Island paper currency is rarely seen, with Government and Treasury issues being the scarcest. In fact, we have not offered this type in the past. A small serial number at front should indicate how rare this type actually is. The first known date for this series is 1848. The series concluded around 1870. Despite heavy circulation and pen cancellations, the details of this uniface note are still mostly visible. Of the highest degree of rarity and missing from many collections. Since Prince Edward Island did not join the Confederation of Canada until 1873, this note could technically be considered a British Commonwealth or Empire note as well as an early Canadian type.
