Republic Yuan Shih-kai "L. Giorgi" Pattern Dollar Year 3 (1914) MS61 NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Pn33, L&M-73, Kann-643a, WS-0167, Wenchao-859 (rarity 4 stars). Obverse featuring 3/4 facing bust of Yuan Shih-kai with "L. Giorgi" over the shoulder at 4 o'clock. An important variety of the 1914 Yuan Shih-kai pattern type bearing the name of engraver Luigi Giorgi. The offering conveys indisputable Mint State appeal, its sleek surfaces glistening with silvery lustrous brilliance, a pale gold obverse peripheral tone and a gentle reverse patina contributing a sense of age and originality to the piece. Absent any larger signs of handling or contact, the specimen reveals only unobtrusive minor hairlines to establish the assigned grade, a fact that culminates in a sharp visual allure when considered against the lustrous quality and balanced appeal of the piece overall. A standout representative of the Chinese Republic pattern series, one which is unlikely to go overlooked as it continues to ascend in popularity alongside other major Chinese rarities of the period.
