South Vietnam National Bank of Viet Nam 500 Dong ND (1962) Pick 6As2 Specimen PCGS Gem New 66PPQ. This rare, highest denomination type was short lived. All examples in high grade are scarce, regardless of format. Issued in 1962, this type circulated for less than two years, before being demonetized in 1964. South Vietnamese leader Ngo Dinh Diem was overthrown in late 1963, and as this note represented his portrait in the watermark and his palace at front, a design change was necessary. This handsome Specimen was carefully created, with printer notations, red overprints, and hole punched cancellations. A superb and historic Specimen.
