This emergency issue was prepared in 1941, as the banknote supply from British sources was cut off as a result of the German aerial raids. Purchased from China, these notes were overprinted and issued in the colony only days before the Japanese invasion on December 8th, 1941. Brief and honest circulation is seen on this example, which is heightened by its EPQ designation. A historic type and especially desirable in this good grade.
