Zeeland. Dutch Revolt Counterstamped Taler ND (1566-1581) AU58 NGC, Delm-141c (Very Rare). Displaying shield of Zeeland counterstamp (AU Weak) on a Cologne Salentin von Isenburg Taler of 1570 (cf. Dav-9128). A fascinating relic from the Dutch Revolt against the Spanish, during which time the States of Holland and Zeeland ordered an increase in value of 1/8th of the circulating coinage as a war contribution. While commonly found on the 'Philip Daalders' intending for use in the Spanish Netherlands, counterstamps on other foreign hosts are quite rare, and this is the only example we have been able to find on a Cologne taler.
