Lüneburg. Free City Taler (27 Schilling 6 Pfennig) 1568 AU55 NGC, Dav-9420, Schnee-9. With the name and titles of Maximilian II. A much scarcer type than the well-known issues of the Dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg, produced semi-autonomously by the city as a member of the Hanseatic League in accord with the monetary standard of the Lower Saxon imperial district. To date, we have been able to locate only 5 examples having appeared at auction, clearly marking this as a rare opportunity for collectors of German States coinage.
