Description

Ivan III (Ivan VI Antonovich) Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1741-CПБ AU58 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM206.2, Bit-42 (R1), Diakov-7, Petrov-20 Rub. Obv. Laureate bust right. Rev. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value. An extremely rare one-year type produced to an original mintage of 60,000, with only a fraction of these surviving to the present, particularly in so choice condition as that demonstrated by the present piece, one of the absolute finest that we have offered to date. Dressed in a soft and uniform cabinet tone that darkens to accenting effect against the legends and central devices. A unique bidding opportunity, and one made yet more enticing by a prominent and important pedigree. Ex. Hesselgesser Collection
