Kingdom of Holland. Louis Napoleon gold 20 Gulden 1810-B MS62 NGC, Utrecht mint, KM34, Fr-320, Delm-1177. The first example of this Kingdom of Holland elite gold denomination that we have offered to date, featuring glowing golden brilliance that cascades freely upon rotation, enlivening the fields and confirming a preservation that is unquestionably Mint State. As the Napoleonic Kingdom of Holland only lasted a few years (1806-1810), gold types of the period remain quite scarce, and this rarity is seen to its greatest extent in the 20 Gulden produced in 1808 and 1810, the largest gold denomination of this fleeting but eventful epoch in Dutch history. It is telling for the type that a mere seven examples are certified to date across both major grading services, with only a single specimen certified a point above the present offering, at MS63. In all respects, therefore, this nearly choice example, displaying clear features and exceptional luminosity, is impossible to overlook.
