Republic Tuan Chi-jui Dollar ND (1924) MS62 NGC, Tientsin mint, L&M-865, Kann-683, WS-0107, Wenchao-886 (rarity 2 stars). Commemorating Tuan Chi-jui's taking office as the provisional Chief Executive of the Republic of China while abolishing the presidency, and the peaceful unification of China. A most fleeting one-year type of the early Republic that instantly greets the viewer with an unforgettable appearance. While the seemingly modest MS62 certification would usually suggest a more muted, cartwheel luster to the piece, this specimen exhibits an enchanting mirrorlike reflectivity to the surfaces, the rims and the whole of the devices razor-sharp, suggesting both a conservative assigned grade and that a "specimen" designation is left wanting. Light die polish is easily visible over the open expanses, very nearly making this one of the nicest specimens we have seen in recent years.
