Lebanon Banque de Syrie et du Liban 5 Livres 1.9.1939 Pick 27a PMG Very Fine 25. Featuring a slash overprint on both sides, this is the first variety for the 5 Livres. Although dated 1939, banknotes from this series were not issued until 1942. A variety of overprints were created to identify batches of banknotes in case they fell into the wrong hands during World War II. This specific note is easily the rarest of the five varieties, and this is only the second note of its kind we have offered. At the time of cataloging, less than ten examples with a single slash overprint have been graded in the PMG Population Report. Minor repairs are mentioned for accuracy on this 1939 rarity.
