Japan Allied Military Currency WWII 1000 Yen ND (1951) Pick 76a PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. This highest denomination type was issued about six years after the other denominations of the series. Circulation for all Allied Military Currency was ended on the main islands in 1948, but continued for another decade on Okinawa. The 1000 Yen banknote therefore seems to have circulated only in Okinawa, and is very rare today. In fact, we have not offered this denomination previously above the Very Fine grade level. This Gem Uncirculated banknote is extremely rare, and is the single finest graded example in the PMG Population Report at the time of cataloging. Pack fresh originality is easily seen. "A" prefix and suffix are seen, along with control letters "B", indicating that this was a Japanese emission. An impressive and underrated type. Not to be missed.
