Confederation silver Specimen Piefort Essai 5 Francs 1855 SP61 PCGS, KM-XE5, HMZ-2-1229a, Richter-2-49 (R3). Plain edge. Designed by Bovy and struck by Huguenin Frères in Neuchâtel as a proposal for Swiss coinage. An exceptional design which is rather rare in silver, this attractive piece features an underlying luster and sublime toning, with hints of goldenrod and cobalt near the peripheries. A truly wondrous pattern.
