"For the Acquisition of St. Bartholomew" gold Specimen Medal 1984 SP67 PCGS, 90gm. Numbered "18" on the rim, out of 20 struck. Commemorating the second centenary of the Swedish purchase of the island of Saint Barthélemy, a French-speaking Caribbean island commonly known as St. Barts, on 1 July 1784. The island would be returned to French rule over a century later, but remnants of the Swedish rule remain to this day, such as its capital, Gustavia, and the Gustaf III Airport, both named after King Gustav III of Sweden (1771-1792), under whom the island was acquired.
